The learning of Mandarin can be difficult, having grown up in a predominantly English environment in school and at home. And over the years, with less and less use of the language, our grasp of it gets rusty.
However, to us, it's an important part of our culture that we want to keep alive.
The language is beautiful and it'll be a shame if we lose the ability to read, speak and listen in Mandarin, just like how it is with most of our dialects.
It's not too late for us to connect back with the language, and for our children to start.
